I'm not sure about you, but it's pretty exciting to hear about code.org releasing a new hour of code tutorial featuring Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This new addition of code tutorials adds to an already great menu of options - including Angry Birds and Frozen - for young learners to choose from.
Why is this Hour of Code for Star Wars: The Force Awakens exciting?
When I was a youth there was nothing quite like this in the way of tutorials or learning tools. The icing on the cake is that code.org has partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm to bring young learners an extremely fun and engaging way to learn to code. I mean, do you remember DOS and command line programming? I am sure some of you reading this remember punch cards. When you think about how closed off programming was, it's no wonder there is such a diversity gap in computer science. It's time to change that gap and code.org is doing just that!
Donate, Volunteer or Buy a Programming T-ShirtWe love what code.org is doing and we support them 100%. When you buy one of our programming t-shirts 10% of each sale goes to code.org or another non-profit focussed on computer science. If you are not already giving back please consider donating to code.org, volunteering for an Hour of Code or buying one of our programming t-shirts to help make computer science more accessible to our youth.
